August 17 saw over 2000 people visit Inlite’s Chippendale Design Studio, taking in the brand new Delta Light showroom and special installations of Marset and Delta Light’s iconic Metronome XXL. Dirk and Ed from Urban Future kept the crowds entertainment with a DJ set, while the Belgian waffle iron was running  hot throughout the day.

Cara & Co: A Collaborative installation

Metronome by Tim Van Steenbergen for Delta Light: In a collaborative installation with conceptual retail store Cara & Co, Flemish fashion designer Tim Van Steenbergen’s new lines for 2013 are showcased alongside the Metronome.

The notion of the “concept store” first emerged in the start of Millennium in Paris with the opening of “Colette”, and later in Milan with Corso Como 10, followed by London Dover Street Market. This was a time when the fashion market was dominated by global brands and logos, and “concept stores” allowed the individual to “breathe”, and let their own taste prevail. Those in the know immediately added Colette, Corso Como 10 and Dover Street Market to their fashion “black books”. Cara & Co cannot be labeled. It’s neither a boutique, nor a shop, nor a department store. But it combines these three elements into a concept store that contains intellectual fashion, art, high-tech, food and music in a truly inspiring environment.

The main motto behind the store is “No Logos Fashion Only”. Cara & Co showcases intellectual fashion at a luxe level, producing its own aesthetic version of “discreet luxury”. We are for the people who don’t need any logos in order to express their personality. We have always consciously avoided pieces whose greatest selling point was their famous brand, items that screamed the designer’s name, their season, or their owner’s favorite place to shop. Cara & Co’s philosophy of luxe-class, intellectual fashion has always assumed there would be things in our concept store that weren’t for everyone. Things not just anyone would understand or find accessible. And in this lies their value. The “Fashion” zone combines collections of clothes and accessories by designers from Australia, New Zealand, Denmark, Portugal, Belgium, UK, France and USA. Although geographically diverse, the designers share a philosophy of individuality, uniqueness ofcut and impeccable quality. In addition to luxe-class clothing and accessories from all over the world, the store offers vintage pieces, selective perfumery, high-jewellery, and a range of gadgets all of which are hand picked with a keen eye for originality and function.
